I'm swedish and I can honestly say that Peter Forsberg who is known to be one of the greatest ever in hockey didn't even come close to Gretzky. That's how great he was. There will never be anyone as great as him ever again.

Im 14 Canadian and can't skate but Gretzky makes me want to try hockey even though I should have years ago. Didn't get to see him play but watching videos of him play make me want to try!

He could have easily played at the leagues upper level of talent for another 10 years, but I think he just got tired of chasing another chance to lift the cup while playing for teams that were constantly going through rebuilding phases. As an Edmontonian, I am glad that his only cup victories were done so playing for the Oilers.
