Empty Walls is a very, very exhausting song on vocals. There are some strange melodies in the bridge, a weird quirk on the "full of yearning" in the beginning of the chorus, and not a whole lot of places to breathe. Oh, and the lyrics are incredibly fast, too.

On top of that, trying to sing this song as a bass range singer when Serj Tankian is a tenor means I have to constantly jump into and out of falsetto to cover the range, and that's just mind-numbingly difficult while trying to not run out of breath on this song.

I'm going to place some annotations in this video once it finishes processing to point out the first activation, as it's a VERY annoying activation squeeze with an early window (optimal path: 4/AS-EW 2/ 4/sk1). That technical jargon just means you have to activate overdrive way before the end of the golden window (early window), but late enough so you can catch the next overdrive phrase while you're still in overdrive (activation squeeze).

Anyhow, for those of you out there who like this song and can't figure out how to sing it without coughing up a lung... here you go!

Oh, and I uncensored the song while I was at it (as I always try to).
