Test print made on the Desktop Factory 125ci 3D printer which is still being tested.

EDIT: Upon further examination the material doesn't appear to have much flexibility before it will snap.

The flexibility in the belt clip shown in the video appears to flexible because of a weak joint were it mates with the back of the case.

The case is quite fragile. I think you could almost compare it with a sugar cube type print.

  • Hi Brad,

I am really interested in the performance of the Desktop Factory. I have been contemplating buying one and as a 3rd year engineering student think that in 5 to 10 years every engineering student should have one.

I do have a few questions if you have a second:

    1) Did you measure the mass of that part? Just curious of the density of the material.

    2) Also interested in its durability. Do you think if you dropped it would it crack or break?

  • I have not measured the mass.

The printout is comparable to a glued together sand castle...

    Durability is not good.

  • Is that a logo or 'signature' on the back near the clip? How does the printer handle details, such as text?

  • Yes that is a logo, but no text. This printer is not high resolution.

  • I should clarify my comment. The text must be rather large to be printable/readable.

  • cool vid. keep it up! and enjoy the slash and slayer you got!

  • Thanks! I try to...

  • Do you have any bad words about the Alaris30?

  • i dont like the quality resolution of the print out at all

  • Is this printer able to print things like sculptures and maquettes if I was to model them?

  • This machine is more for concept creations, rather than an actual final product.

  • That looks horrible. Is it upgradable to a better head or material or something? I'm not sure that's worth $5,000.

  • i'm worried about the flexibility... could you post a snap test video so that we can see how flexible it is?

  • have you made anything useable yet?

  • the texture looks like an ancient artifact.. you should try making dinossaur bones or teeth and sell online.. he he.. if they were cheap, i'd buy one or two =D
