  • This video was a big waste of time and all you did was act like you knew what you were doing. Doesn't work on the interwebs sir..

  • @RejectedManiac Well if I didnt know what I was doing, the TV set wouldnt be in fully functional condition right now. After 20 years experience I think I know a bit.

  • @More350Power haha nice one, i was not trying to take the piss ;) just ya know - philips......i love my sony trinitron's.

  • @whiskeyify It is, but to play it safe its better to ground it to a metal chasis if it has one or the tuner ground because in turn there SHOULD be a wire that comes from that metal band that connects to the secondary side ground of the flyback just as all the other parts. I had a tv that wasnt making a good connection on the band and it didnt make that snap noise, so I went to the other ground and it did discharge.

  • @More350Power isn't it easier just to attach one clip to the silver wire around the tube?

  • @whiskeyify I had a zenith tech show me that and in fact I should have a wire with three or four aligator clips on it. The heat sinks, the outer casing as I mentioned before on the tuner, all of that should be tied together. If there is a malfunction or a trace is burned out on the board, having an extra clip tied on can save you from being zapped.

  • @More350Power I stand corrected, just because I'm an old timer doesn't mean I know it all. I often watch the younger techs at work and learn from them. I'm 62 years old and still learning...thanks for the info.

  • @whiskeyify Television works fine, been working for 4 months now. That outer ground on the tuner is integrally attached to the chassis ground, the implosion band ( if metal ), the grounds on the rca jacks if available and the secondary ground of the flyback....... they are all tied together and on zeniths, they have a lightning/surge protector that is also connected so there is no damage to anything...... I was taught this way, though it might not be approved by all
