Short Info about the new main char ''Hawk''

1. Hawke will be a voiced character.
Unlike Dragon Age: Origins, the player's character in Dragon Age II will be fully voiced. This opens the door for a more cinematic approach to dialogue and creates an identity for the character outside of the text you see on-screen. It also eliminates those awkward scenarios where you feel like your character should be reacting, but instead just stares blankly without so much as a grunt.

2. Hawke is human.
Yes, that means that you won't be able to select Hawke's race. However, just because that one aspect of Hawke's backstory is set doesn't mean BioWare is eliminating character creation. You can still choose your class and customize your appearance. When we visited BioWare's studio, we only saw (and heard) the male Hawke in action, but the team promises that players can select either gender for the character.

3. Hawke didn't just survive the blight...he escaped it.
As the Grey Warden from Dragon Age: Origins was fighting darkspawn, Hawke was living in Lothering. Fans will remember that the small village was raided and destroyed (an event that occurred off-screen in Origins), and Hawke was one of the survivors. However, rather than stay and fight the darkspawn menace, Hawke flees Ferelden and heads north.

4. Hawke is the Champion of Kirkwall.
Kirkwall is a major population center in the Free Marches, a collection of city-states north of Ferelden. This means that at least some of the action in Dragon Age II will be set in Kirkwall itself, though Hawke will also spend time in other areas of the Free Marches. What exactly Hawke does to earn the honorary title of Champion, however, is up to you.

5. Hawke drives the story.
Dragon Age II is not about killing an ancient evil or about quelling another blight; Hawke is the driving force behind the narrative. Over the course of the game's 10-year timeline, players' actions and choices will determine Hawke's history, relationships, and regrets...all in service to answering the larger question: Who is the Champion of Kirkwall?

  • I don't know what everyone is upset about I really enjoyed this addition of mass effect, I though it was great how Commander shepards name was changed to hawke and they made him medieval.

  • @irfantariq31

One of my biggest beefs with this game is the fact that Anders and Fenris keeps trying to hit on me. It seems in order to keep the flamers from trying to flirt with me i have to be total assholes to them. It's like you try to be nice to them and suddenly they want your man meat. (this goes for the female characters to.)

  • @mastermizery i hated going through all of the recruiting processes. DA2>DAO

  • @blaxof hahaha dont be we're both on the same page( besides they'll finally put a female krogan in Mass Effect 3 so why not a Qunari Female? :/)

  • dragon age 2: the darkspown look doom, and the hole game ia nothing but rise to power. thats why origins wins.

  • @advancedgryphon Agreed with manettovks. What story did we have to follow? DAO had and has an epic story, I mean come on : 6 or so different starting storys, each determine how you are treated throughout the game. every decision you make affects how people treat you. Saving elves from werewolves, rescuing the dwarves most respected figure and crowning a king, choosing to side with templars or mages, fighting demons, slaying dragons that are actually difficult to kill, puzzles like mad. DAO>DA2.

  • @advancedgryphon what story?

  • i liked Dragon Age 2 a lot more then Origins im sorry. i liked the fact that your character accualy said something in the damn cut scenes. made it easier to follow along with the story. the only thing i did not like about it is that you were not able to change your companions armor at will.

  • @Kickbackjg i only played the demo and for about an hour at my friends house

  • @GearShotgun U know, u can change it so it auto attacks like origins.

  • what did i hate most about Dragon Age 2? hmm probably how you had to mash the attack button over and over, basic attacks do next to nothing, thats why there automatic, its like mashing your head against a wall, its useless. it also makes it hard to focus on the fight.

  • @MegaSuperFox

Yeaaa, there is one part when he tells you that he is gay. He asks you if that is a problem. You have option "Yes" and "No". If you choose "No", Hawke will say "It's just a problem that you didn't tell me sooner". And if you choose "Yes", Hawke will break his heart... SRSLY
