  • i have a smaller wooden djembe but i am thinking of buying one of these remos... i guess this one is 12", the 14" also looks and feels nice but couldn't decide which one to buy yet, need to play it sometime in a music store, they don't have a store that sells remo in my town, need to travel somewhere else for trying it :( would you recommend the remo djembes?

  • I like the nice low tuning. Great bass!

  • ok sweet :) thanks i look forward to it

  • @djembegrobi I'm gonna have it in some weeks and I'd appreciate if you can explain the way in which you muffled it, since -from what I've heard- there is some 'ringing' sound with these fyberskin heads. Where exactly did you tape it? Thanks for sharing the tip and good rithm!

  • @frazier36 haha, yea, the atlantic coast is always going up and down in terms of humidity and so on.

  • @MacMan282

right on man, and LP, Toca, and Meinl are the most common djembes you'll see in music stores and they're all animal skin heads, either goat or calf skin. They also have a different sound compared to remo's, more dry with no ring.... but idk im from hawaii, and the humidity is constantly going up and down here which sucks if you got an animal skin djembe, so that's why i prefer synthetic heads.

  • @frazier36 yea, I'm gonna see if i can rake in some cash soon for the purchase. I'm dying here without a drum. It's good to hear the positive push for this drum, I don't even know where you would get an animal skin drum... at least in mass production.

  • @MacMan282

hey if you're still considering the purchase, i would highly recommend it... you can find them for cheap from online music outlets, just google 'em.... any of the new model remos sound f**kn awesome, and they're definitely worth it. Synthetic heads instead of animal skin so you don't have to worry about the sound being affected by the weather. Also search: "remo apex", it's more affordable, and sounds better than older remos. I'm not a salesman for remo, I just love mine a lot.
