Divers and a group of Giant Manta (Manta birostris) meet in the waters of Cocos, Costa Rica.
It was a thrilling encounter and a beautiful interaction. A few divers were too enthusiastic and touched the gentle giants... now, I know many good people discourage such practice and so do I, but in an age when marine life is being massacred in so many ways, gentle human touch can be forgiven in moments such as these. In any case, here goes the message: please don't touch the fish!
hello, thanks for posting comments. regarding the government charges: the government does charge a daily fee for visiting the national park of Isla del Coco. I do not believe the government charges come close to $2500 for the typical 10-day cruise to Cocos. It is much less. I am not sure if any other boat can get authorization to go visit the archipelago.
