Tuomo - Don't Take It Too Hard

The sound of Helsinki and Finland has been well documented of late, amazing musicianship, elegant song writing etc. Still, there are musical treasures being uncovered frequently and we think we have found another that deserves the accolade of being acquainted with the respect that the city and country have enjoyed of late. In fact the buzz on this artist and title is already well into being considered that of 'special'.

Tuomo (Prättälä) has been known as a keyboardist of such fine bands as Quintessence, Q-Continuum and Emma Salokoski Ensemble. Now Tuomo (Prättälä) has released his debut solo album, full of his own songs and skills. "My Thing" introduces Tuomo as a significant composer, musician and singer to the world. Soulful tunes are full of ingenious melodies and hooks, seemingly effortless in beauty in musical form and aural proportion. Songs that have been composed during a productive period from 2003 to 2006 and recorded with some of the best players from Finland (Verneri Pohjola, Emma Salokoski). They vary from smooth soul ballads to tight funk rhythms. Such pearls as the title track "My Thing" and the almost progressive "So Surreal" being highlights in a superlative soul outing. This is a CD that will be played from start to finish and not a chance in hell of anyone feeling the need of skipping a track or two.

Tuomo is also a world class piano player -- winner of Getxo Jazz Group Competition in Spain (with MP 4) and Young Nordic Jazz Comets 2002 (with ILMILIEKKI QUARTET) This year he won an annual Sony Jazz Music Prize in Finland.

The album has been a great success in Finland staying for eleven weeks in the TOP 40, and with the belief that the world already in respect of the great bands and players from Finland, that this artist and CD is ready for the big time.
