Taxpayers pay for Mass. transgender inmate's mammogram (1)

A 4/16/2010 news report (http://bit.ly/ajSPDC) from FOX25 in Boston on Massachusetts transgender inmate, Michelle Kosilek, who recently received a taxpayer-funded mammogram. Kosilek, who is serving a life sentence for the murder of her wife, has been receiving hormone injections and electrolysis and is suing the Dept. of Corrections to obtain gender reassignment surgery (GRS). However - it pisses me off to see that the mainstream media always tries to find the worst possible, monstrous examples of humanity to hold up as a transperson. I'll add this: because my mother died of breast cancer, I began getting mammograms at 39. I had to get my doctor's referral for that one (she recommended I go). After 40 any woman can get one without a referral (I live in Canada, however and we have a different healthcare system than in the U.S.)

I'm now 51 .

My mother died of cancer....there were no mammography scanners then. I think the problem really is this: the state should fund mammograms for EVERYONE who needs them, regardless of income level. It's a basic part of healthcare for all women (and for the men who need them). I do not see this person as a male, however.
