Often heard this here in the UK. Not to be confused with the propagation scanner somewhere in the nordic countries which goes through the H.F. band in a continuous sweep. Its only an unusual form of data transmission - not as some twats on here are saying its from aliens..... I suppose they cant help having a stunted brain.Hi

I'd say that's OTHR.

I heard something like that once, but it keeps moving lower and lower in frequency O_O
It moved from around 5080 to four thousand something last night, and now I can't even find it >.>

Hi All I have tried to reply to this signal on shortwave before but my post wasn't uploaded.
This signal sounds to me very like the old American AN system, this was an OTHR. I say this because I was on a joint USAF/RAF base in England and worked on the system there. This seems a bit faster PRF than ours. It was very distinctive to hear just like the Russian Wood Pecker almost a voice from the past. One relocatable system was used in the Burmuda area foe drug enforcement.

It sounds like military radio encryption from any one of these sources: BID 150, FASCINATOR, KY-3, KY-57, KY-58, KY-68, OMNI, SCIP, Sectéra Secure Module, SIGSALY, STE, STU-II, STU-III, VINSON.

Have heard it on CB/11m too.

Have a 394 set up with a discone, cant beat it. Excellent radio on all bands.

It's probably over are pay grades, some things are better left alone.

I used my RX-SSTV to see what I get and I just get letters. The most clear letters spell Lucy..Odd! Very odd! I need to get one of those things you got and start to decode transmissions with my RX-SSTV and that station which I will soon get..
Its always good to see a 394 working for its living. Nice catch, nice audio. Thumbs up.

isn't a mysterius signal it's navtex trasmissions, and others digital mode, usually tx from coast stations with trasponders on hf, or air plains service in digital, the 45 meters it's used for navy, air force, military use, commuications to the airplains in transoceanic comunications, some radars services, very much services work on this band.

@MultiSwl As stated before, this signal HAS been identified as an OTHR station. Navtex sounds NOTHING like this. The only reason I approved your comment is because you menchan 'some RADAR services' and you also shed some more light on the usage of this band. However, here in the U.S. and its surrounding waters, this band (and THIS FREQ) is PRIMARILY a Maritime services band, with Aircraft being secondary. Mostly hear ssb maritime phones here.

Sounds like dubstep music.

@akcessdenied Well, after looking up and listening to some Dubstep, thanks to your comment. I've decided to attempt to make an actual classic Dubstep piece featuring this very transmission. I've tried alot of things with my digital audio workstation (F.L.Studio 9) and though my specialty is paranormal 'moody' music, I think I'll try a Dubstep piece now. Thanks for the comment and you have a LOT of thumbs up!
