This story is adapted from a very famous O'Henry story about a sick girl who believed her death would come as the last leaf fell from a tree outside her bedroom window. Her recovery came after an old man climbed the tree to secure the last leaf by tieing it with a strand of his hair. In typical a O'Henry twist, the deed cost the old man his life as he caught ill from climbing the tree in the winter.
