m8 u realy dont no what your talken bout hay.. for 1: it aint that his parachute didnt open fully, the fucken thing snaped of under the enitial force apon full opening.. and 2: he wasnt doin in excess of 200 mph when hiting the net, he washd off a far bit of speed befor contact.. and that stuped net killd him by folding his car in half and probly puting the frame bar thrue him.. the nets a piss poor design and better of with a long sand trap with no obsticles.. tradgic and unfair loss.. R.I.P.
@afuelkid777 I am truly sorry for you loss....I can't believe they guys who owned the track didn't listen to the drivers about the nets...unforgivable.....
WOW, I am amazed at what people will write on the internet...expecially when they know nothing about what they are talking about, this was my Dad and I can tell you that the chassis he built was not to blame, the catch nets are WAY to stiff and if it had some give to it, my dad would still be with us today. Geez. :(
Mark built his own car. It folded in a very strange way, not the usual grab of the net. He had slowed significantly.
Neil suffered a Heart Attack during the run. There was no chance of him hitting te brakes or popping the chutes on that run. He could not physically do it.
Wasn't doing 270 when he hit the sand more like 100 tops, this was the definition of a freak accident don't know how he died from that impact just his time may he rest in peace and it is assumed that Neal Parker had some sort of medical problem during his run because he made no attempt to slow the car as far as I know
i was there- and what attaches the chute system- to the car is what failed- what can be done- is making tack run off longer- all sand- no nets rip mark- this ruined the- winners and all Of SEATTLE, VERY SAD.
Mark Niver was slowed way down when he went into the sand. This wasn't a speed issue. Any funny car going in at that speed wouldv'e probably made the next round with a new body installed. Dragsters dont do well going head first into nets. It was a freak accident. The guy obviously loved what he was doing as was well respected by many. What else can you ask for out of life. RIP.
