  • do the new ones use a VGA port or do they still use the huge one?

  • @copiga They use VGA and DVI (and USB, SATA....). The new Sam460 board even has two PCI-e slots.

  • A computer is designed for what you want it to do. ;-) You can do a lot of standard usage with the current Amiga: listening to music, playing DivX movies or browsing the web. Of course, you can't do everything you can do on other big systems (Win, Mac, Linux) as we don't have enough developers to move faster (yet?). May I suggest to look for "Why use AmigaOS 4 in 2009" on Youtube.

Also a Norvegian company uses AmigaOS to create an information channel. Look for "ferrule media" on the web.

  • I remember the Amiga OS, but thought it was obsolete. The computer seem to be new and the Amiga OS was good back in the 1980's when I last saw a machine with it. That was when Commodore was king in the personal computer business. The graphics was great on the Amiga then, and it must still be fantastic.

  • @semco72057 The old Amiga you know can be qualified as obsolete as it is too limited to do modern uses. The new Amiga computers like this one are far better. The use of DDR memory (up to 2GB), SATA harddrives and modern graphic cards allow you to have fun again. See videos on the web or read Amigans.net for more information...

  • Thanks for the up! Nice video. What disturbs me as an Amigan is the fact that the manufacturers haven't even considered making a backplate, thus, everyone's SAM has a huge openning from which dust (among other things) will enter the expensive equipment! That is no serious business they're doing, even the cheapest mobos sell with a metal backplate for the owner to use. What a shame! It indicates that they do not respect their customers...

  • Hello, ACube did consider a backplate and are still considering one but this is not easy to do one at a right price.

The "cheapest mobo" you are talking about is probably sold at 10 millions copies. In this case, it's far easier to have a backplate too. ;-)

About respect, check comments all over the place. You'll see very few negative ones.
