@Socinus My buddy drew gave me the solution to your problem, Play Dnd. The biggest problem with gaming right now is that it revolves around a brandnomer, its the Kleenex or Bandaid of RPGs. You want to play a game, Play DnD first. Move on to Shadowrun after you've established yourself.

@333derick333 The game is changing. Geeks rule the world, Inception, a quick, smart film was released this summer and sold big. Smart gaming is winning.

As time continues, Pen and Paper might make a resurgence, we have plenty of time to go and plenty of things to do. I don't think an entire genre will die off because mobile gaming is more relevant.

@Socinus Free time may be limited for a bunch of people, but new people are entering the market and technology is on the rise which means Geekdom is on the rise. I'm finding that in my area, there always seem to be more people looking for a game. The want for more personal games should increase as time progresses.

Besides, time is becoming more limited as individuals age, not as a cultural standard. Survival of the game relies on the youth.

@IncendiarySolution I started gaming with Warhammer Fantasy way back in the late 80s. I've never been a fan of D&Ds game worlds: granted you can make your own and every game is ultimately only as good as the GM and players...but there's a LOT more to role playing than D&D.

@IncendiarySolution Survival of the game relies on the youth....sorry to say this but i started playing games online at 40 one year ago and many of my friends play online. most of us do not play the same game and most would not be seen as geeks although at our age we would not care if we were

as time goes on those of us who look back on the atari with love, who's familys have grown up will retake the laptop from their kids and play free. the web has no age and no country

I agree that social media has given a big boost to these kinds of games recently, but my concern is that this boost has been only temporary. With better digital games technology combined with a shrinking allotment of free time for people, I dont see how gaming can be kept going once this initial boom stalls out. I love gaming but it just doesnt seem like something that can survive for a long period of time.
