My first car in 1966 was a 56 Merc Monterey that my dad bought off a back lot of a dealer in Los Gatos CA for $100. It was my graduation present from Leigh High School in San Jose.

(Wish I had it now). White roll and tuck interior, torquoise blue and chrome...lot's of chrome!

Love it. I'd take it over a '55 Chevy Bel Air or a '55 Ford Crown Vicky. But let's be honest, it might be justifiable to say one of those is the "most sought after car of it's day"....but not this Merc.
