Chapter 7

The most potent weapon on earth is the human soul on fire. I have no idea why I wrote that. I dont even know what it means but I know its really cold outside today

YES!! Today, our P.E class will be focused on soccer, and I can wait.
Ashley: hi Kate! Ready for P.E?
Ashley and I walked together to the girls locker room to get changed, then left for the gym.
Ashley: And guess whos in our gym class Kate?
Katlin: who?
And I wish I hadnt asked
Ashley: Joe
Katlin: Joe?!
Joe: someone call me?
And I turned around and saw Joe behind me, smiling
Katlin: uhh Ashley did
Joe chuckled, and all three of us entered the gym. We all took a seat as Coach Taylor called our attention.
Coach Taylor: Okay class, today were gunna mix things up a bit. Boys will partner up with girls. Now boys, stand up and pick your partner!
I never liked free partner picking, so I just sat back and waited for the last guy to be my partner.
Coach Taylor: Joe! Stand up and pick a partner already!
Joe: Okay, I pick
He was looking for someone without a partner yet, and apparently, that was me
Joe: Kate
I looked up and saw him smiling at me. And I couldnt help but smile back.
I jumped of the bleachers and went to where he was standing. He let me start, and he was the goalie
I gave him a direct kick and he was able to block it
Joe: is that the best you can do?
I gave him another, and he was still able to block
Joe: your kicks seem to lack force. And I dont even know how you became team captain.
What was he saying? I knew he was only doing this to get to me, and oh boy! It was working! I was one of the best players on the team and the only reason he was able to block it, was because I didnt put much effort into kick the ball.
Joe: are you done day dreaming? Team CAPTAIN?
He smirked, and I reached my breaking point.
I gave him a bicycle kick and put all the force I had and into it.
It was a perfect kick, and it hit him right on the head. He fell down and I thought he was just joking around. Until he didnt get up anymore. I called Coach Taylor to call the nurse and sat there beside him.
Nick and Ashley ran to where me and Joe were
Ashley: Kate, how hard did you hit that ball?
Nick: pretty hard, apparently!
Ashley hit him on the arm
Ashley: not the time for jokes!
Coach Taylor: What happened?
Katlin: I sorta hit him on the head with a bicycle kick.
Coach Taylor: Yeesh! I didnt know you had it in you Kate.
Coach Taylor and Nurse Robert placed him on a stretcher and brought him to the clinic. I followed them and Nurse Roberts informed me that he was out cold.
I talked to Coach Taylor and asked him if I could stay with him since it was all my fault.
Coach Taylor: Fine, Ill inform your other teachers and tell them youre excused from classes.
Katlin: Thanks coach

I walked in the clinic again and saw Joe sitting down on a hospital bed with an ice pack on his head.
Katlin: Hey jerk!
Joe: Hi loser
Katlin: Hows your head?
Joe: heavy, I should have learned by now not to tick you off.
Katlin: Ya think!? I have injured you twice this week. So far I have two points and you have. None.
Joe: So why are you here? Dont you have classes?
Katlin: Coach let me skip class to stay here with you
Joe: Dawwe! Thats so sweet
He teased
Nurse Roberts: Hows your head?
Joe: getting better
Nurse Roberts: Good, I want you to just stay on that bed for the rest of the day. I have some other patients to attend to
Nurse Roberts looked at me
Nurse Roberts: Make sure he doesnt get up.
Joe: So what should we do for the next 4 hours?
Katlin: well we could play twenty question?
But before I could start asking him questions, I shivered. It was FREEZING in here! And all I was wearing was my soccer shorts which were half a foot above my knees and my jersey shirt. Joe saw me shiver.
Joe: Are you cold?
Katlin: kinda
Joe: My sweaters over there, you could borrow it if you want?
I walked up to get his sweater and put it on. It was unusually large on me but I couldnt care less since felt so much better. I sat on the foot of his bed and we played twenty questions.
After about twenty minutes, Nick and Ashley entered the room.
