Shake Creations joined forces in early July with Bicycle Victoria and its affiliates in NSW, Queensland and South Australia to stage the Tour de France Breakfast Series 2008 - a celebration of the world's most famous bicycle race. Staged in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane within the space of a week, the series featured cycling specialist and broadcaster Michael Roberts as host, with cycling great and former Tour de France rider Henk Vogels as guest speaker. The Melbourne guests were also treated to a special appearance by Helen Cocks, mother of 2008 Tour favourite Cadel Evans. Guests enjoyed a light breakfast with a French "twist", along with some exclusive footage straight from this year's Tour in France, and were left enthralled by the stories Henk shared of his time on the Tour. They also had the chance to take away some great prizes, including custom-made racing saddle table centrepieces, bikes and racing jerseys signed by Henk and all the Australians racing in this year's Tour, including Cadel Evans, Stuart O'Grady, Robbie McEwan and Baden Cooke.
A celebration of cycling in Australia and abroad - definitely! This show left no doubt about the level of cycling talent Australia is showing the world!
This is the footage shown at the start of each show. It features highlights from the 2007 Tour de France, which is featured in deTOUR The Movie 2 and was generously provided to Shake Creations by the movie's producers.
