bhahahaha. Bernie was sitting there, saw a bruin coming his way . Thought about it and decided to "meet Cashman's imposing advance with similar force." Resulting in a punishing check. It's called flyer hockey.

Cashman lowered his shoulder as he got closer to Bernie.

As great and graceful as Bernie was, he was still a Flyer and therefore still coached to be mean and put out the punishment. It's just how it was. Not that anything's changed, mind you.

I never knew Bernie had a mean streak in him?..Hextall, Favell and Bobby Taylor were flyer goalies who could dish it out but sweet lovable Bernie?...

goalies need to put more of a beatin on the guys running the screen.

I, too thought it was Bernie's bad but after seeing the replay it was apparent that he was starting back to his crease and then did the right thing to meet Cashman's imposing advance with similar force and Cash went down. If Bernie were the one to go down, Cash would have gotten the penalty. More Cashman's fault.

Parent did his best so Cashman does not crash on the board. He was trying to hold him a bit.
