Nail Art is all over the internetz, and suddenly it is a THING. The crazier the nail art, the more we marvel at the technique and time that went into it. But is there an artistic message behind these little cuticle canvases? Nail Art may seem superficial and trivial, but its fleeting nature allows it to be a purely free expression, and it's pretty to boot. Nail art makes us wonder if anything, given enough creativity, can be a canvas for artistic expression.

Doesn't art ultimately fall into that ethereal space of 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'? I have seen some 'works of art' that I would never deem worthy of the expression. On the other hand, I've seen furniture, movie props, or well-crafted novels that I would consider art. And yet, I know that some wouldn't agree with my assessment. It's a subjective thing to its core. By that reasoning, anything can be art, if at least one person values it as such.

    no art without craft.

but subjectively anything can be art if you want to see it like that. nosebleeding on a sheet of paper and nail"art", etc. aren´t art for me. crafting a guitar for example, IS art.

To answer the title, yes. Same with make-up. I don't wear make-up myself, but yes, especially when the make-up is exaggerated (And by exaggerated, I mean like having butterfly wings around your eyes or something like that). Same with tattoos. It's all body art.
