"Their designs and engineering are basically unchanged for 10 years! " I BEG to differ, Many of the newer Toyotas today are NOT the ones they were in 01-02. They have drastically improved in power, fuel efficiency, reliability, and safety.

@597914 and I know EXACTLY what cause the two automakers failure.

1. Was their HORRIBLE management, the CEO barely did SHIT for the company as well being down the line. Compare an average salary of a GM exec compared to your average Toyota or Honda Exec, You'll notice right off the that that the honda an toyota exec isn't a bloated pig that sits on top while his empire falls.

Almost every exec from Honda was a past engineer working for the company. Now you know why their engineering is better

@597914 "GM employes more than Toyota and Honda combined." Even if they do or did, could all those people easily keep their jobs? Especially for how many plants GM closed down already, Obviously something was out of shape or highly mismanaged as we all know which cause their downfall until they were resurrected by obamas socialist bailout.

@EpiDemic117 people like to cite that foreign cars are "more American" than American cars. Thats not a fair statement. American cars have twice as much(67%) domestic content on average than ANY foreign maker's cars. There is a difference between MADE in America and ASSEMBLED in America. Toyota averages just over 30% domestic and Honda only 55% . US makers spend $50 billion more on supplier parts HERE in the US. You CANNOT argue with that.
