One on the most admired German officers produced by the Wehrmacht in World War II. His daring command of the spearheading panzer group crushed the French in little time. Commanding Panzer Group 2 Guderian stopped short of Moscow's southern area. Hitler appointed him Army Chief of Staff OKH Oberkommando des Heeres in 1944. Captured by the Allies in May 1945, Guderian was repatriated back to Germany in 1948. Both Poland and the USSR wished to place Guderian on trial as a war criminal. However, many in the West considered Guderian's service as honorable and of the upmost military professionalism. Generaloberst Heinz Wilhelm Guderian died on May 14, 1954, almost to the day of his Sedan breakthrough in France 1940.

  • shnell heinz. hit em, dont spatter them. haha, i got a copy of panzer leader. good guy. i was wondering if its true his son joined the U.S. airforce. i was talking to my first seargent about guderian when i was in the Air force and he told me he knew him...said they fled to america post ww2.

  • Heinz Günther Guderian was not in any US unit.

  • this was the genius, like rommel.

  • To think what Guderian did in France 1940 is just amazing. With inferior armor, his superiors telling him to hold back, he bashed ahead without any fear, using his brains as a weapon. A clear genius.

  • Great uploads there kingtiger88.

I've always had a deep interest in the Axis perspective of WW2, and have always believed the elite Deutsches Soldaten eg, Das Reich, Liebstandarte, Gross Deutschland, Fallschirmjager and Panzer forces were, man for man, the best fighting forces in the history of modern warfare. Ost front, and the Pacific war, have always been my two main theatres of interest regarding modern military history. Just the sheer scale, brutality & ferocity of fighting i guess.

  • sorry I just saw your message. Glad too see another Pacific war enthusiast. Well I mean if you can call anything about war enthusiastic.

  • My father saw Rommell stand on his tank and salute every captured British Expiditionery Soldier from the Scottish (51st) (Highland) Infantry Division when they were captured in the Blitzkrieg attack at the Maginot line circlement, my Father said Rommell gave them all a chance to surrender by putting loud seakers up and blasting the current situation of total loss and the situation at Dunirk ! My father could have died if it was not for Rommell's humanity in battle.

  • Great man. A master of tactic.

  • there is no questioning the fact that the germans probably had in ww2 the most fearsome and ruthless war machine ever assembled, and i know if hitler had of been sane the outcome of the war would have been in germanys favour, but where would it end ,more war, world domination,im glad hitler was nuts and didnt trust his general because the ruthless genocides of ethnic groups would have continued on a even larger scale, great army but lets not forget the horror and suffering caused by them.

  • @eduardalet

Which would've been a bad thing.

  • CMob09, I am Irish Republican. I have true Scottish Friends. I agree with your view about Rommel

  • @Cmob09.... it was very touching and very nice what you said about Rommel. And as I see, u r British. This means you are totally impartial. Bravo.

  • the best tank strategist of all time...

  • For anyone interested in Guderian and especially the German advance on Moscow they should read "Hitler's panzers east: World War II reinterpreted" by R. H. S. Stolfi. It's for sale for a couple of bucks (because it's an older book) on Amazon. It shows in great detail and very realistically how without Hitler's mistake the Germans would have been in Moscow in 1941.

  • that is a great book, gave u read his book achtung panzer? its brilliant

  • Guderian was a great german hero,it was that Hitler stupid and took everything in charge,he trust nobody except the SS!

Hitler's mentality was like a three years old child in military!
