I can see how it looks but trust me this isnt' bad I've been dancing for years and I have seen worse costume choices.honestly I saw nothing wrong with the moves it would be the same if they did pom dance in a skirt and spankies and did the splits. When a dancer does a leap her skirt WILL go up that why we wear the spankies! I do see how this costume does look bad since it looks like normal everday clothes and seeing someone do those moves in that type of clothing can look bad in a school setting

understand that because of that one dance, the coach was fired and our poms are forever known as sluts. They have gotten alot better, but still alot of people make fun of them behind their backs for this dance and a few others. My sister was a cheerleader at the time and I remember coming to this basketball game and looking at my mother going 'what the hell are they doing?' Its not the same and its a damn shame they went and did this.

I understand where you're coming from-but Spankies and underwear are two different things. Spankies go over your underwear-any dancer, cheerleader or gymnast knows that. But, it is just as dance move. They went to nationals with this routine-our poms team is amazing! They're so spirited and have so much love for what they do. Sure, they showed a little too much and it was taken the wrong way-but i think you're taking it way to personally. and Cheerleading and Dance are two different things.

Whatever you call them,they look exactly like underwear.Does calling them spankies change anything? No.Cheerleaders may do similar moves,but just because somebody else is doing it & society's norms have evaporated over time,doesn't make it any less exploitive of young girls who continue to be rewarded by the media,and in school competitions now, for being sexually provocative.This is just indicative of how girls are encouraged to use their sexuality,contributing to gender stereotypes.
