"Bridge Over the Wadi" is the name of a very unique elementary school in the Wadi 'Ara area in Israel: a jointly-managed Jewish-Arab school for Jewish and Arab kids, where teachers instruct in both languages and teach both cultures and narratives. This miracle was the result of the hard work of a dedicated group of Jewish and Arab parents, who insisted on providing a different kind of education for their kids. They had to overcome many obstacles, but with the assistance of the Hand in Hand network they finally opened the school in September 2004. It currently offers education from Kindergarten to 7th grade, with the hope of reaching K through 12th by 2013.

  • This is a truly beautiful thing. These kinds of schools will bring tomorrow's peace activists.

  • That's incredible, I hope more schools like this one will exist.
