This is what midnight is like in Quito on New Year's Eve. We have enjoyed this for eight years now, but this is the first time we've seen it from the vantage point of our new house. It is amazing to see so many fireworks being shot at once all over our part of the city. The most intense fireworks basically last for an hour. This video captures the peak of it--twelve minutes worth, starting two minutes before midnight. The background noise may sound like static, but it is really all of the fireworks being shot off all around us.
