Fantastic tip from Magluvin...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSTfFIetYPY&feature=response_watch

He added some powdered graphite to his dry bearings and it seems to work better than any lubricant I've tried!

Thanks alot Magluvin!

  • The graphite seems to work into the imperfections of the bearing, causing a smoother surface and makes things slippery.

  • thank you

  • Any hardware store should have it. It is more intended to lube key locks. Its cheap.

  • .... so dont get discouraged if some dont work so well, just try another.

Im glad to see it worked out well for you. =]

Boca Bearing has what they call a dry lube used in their ceramic bearings, I have not tried it yet.

  • There ya go. I used a drill with a shaft the size of the inner race socket and held the outer race and worked it in. Then blow it out. If any hidden grease shows up from inside the bearing a good wash with acetone then run them in with the graphite one more time. Also with the rubber coated seals, you can shave the inner rubber lip off with an exacto knife and they wont have the drag that they cause, and it will help to keep them clean.

Every bearing, even of the same model are imperfect.......

  • To speed up the breaking in of the graphite, use a dremel tool or drill with a cone shaped grinder attachment. Put a rubber band around the cone so that the rubber band grips the inner part of the bearing and then power up the drill. Works wonders.

  • is it safe ?

and where can i get a powdered graphite ?

    thank you

  • *grin* hi introvertebrate,
