With Adrian Le Roy´s dance pieces there is always a second more elaborated version, a so called "plus diminuee". A virtuosic show up. This music came was printed 1552 in Paris.
I didn´t know all this, so many many thanks for letting me knowing all this! I do know the piece "Bel Fiore" (there are others by other composers aswell aren´t there?) but have been playing just a few pieces by him, although there is a printed lute book by him here in Uppsala, Sweden.
In fact it is "Bel Fiore" from italian origin (for example the Saltare(l)lo Bel Fiore Pietro Paolo Borrono Casteliono 1536, fol. 12 v). The name "Bel Fiore" might mean beautiful flower or be related to a name such as the ones found in "Flor & Blanchefleur", "Flor & Bianca Fiore" ; there is a lute illustration in a very ancient copy of this story. Great thanks !
