A classic one from John Lennon with lyrics :Album Double Fantasy released in 1980.Lennon wrote this to explain what he was up to in the last 6 years. Until Double Fantasy, his last album was Walls And Bridges, which was released in 1974. He was no longer interested in fame, and dedicated himself to his family - his wife Yoko and young son Sean. The song makes a statement that taking it easy and spending time with loved ones is anything but crazy. Working way too hard in an attempt to be a productive as possible, on the other hand, can be quite unfulfilling in the end.
Lyrics:
People say I'm crazy doing what I'm doing
Well they give me all kinds of warnings to save me from ruin
When I say that I'm o.k. well they look at me kind of strange
Surely you're not happy now you no longer play the game

People say I'm lazy dreaming my life away
Well they give me all kinds of advice designed to enlighten me
When I tell them that I'm doing fine watching shadows on the wall
Don't you miss the big time boy you're no longer on the ball

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go

Ah, people asking questions lost in confusion
Well I tell them there's no problem, only solutions
Well they shake their heads and they look at me as if I've lost my mind
I tell them there's no hurry
I'm just sitting here doing time

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go

  • I'm not a huge John Lennon fan, but I respect his music. This song really hits home at this point in my life. I am a workaholic and I'm at a point where I'm questioning if any success I've had was worth the time, sacrafice and relationships I've given to attain these materistic rewards.

  • 6 people were watching Justin Bieber instead of the wheels.

  • i love this song. a lot of people know but some dont that this song is about his leaving the beatles. people said he was crazy and didnt know what he was doin. so he told them there's no problem only solutions. so he got the hell off of the merry go round that was the beatles. the breakup wasnt yoko's fault. john just got tired of the freakin merry go round thats all.

  • sin duda el maestro,el mas grande de la música de rock de todos los tiempos, el genio, maravilloso lennon. por siempre vivirá.

  • John Lennon was beloved in his time. He achieved fame, fortune, and a good family (twice). when he died at 40, that's when he became the legend he is regarded as today. This song, in a way, epitomizes his life in around 4 minutes. Always will love ya, Johnny Boy

  • Always been an anthem, for me. Makes me want to go take a hike in the woods. Bye.
