This is just a demonstration robot. This will not enter the FTC competition.

Don't you need some type of arm??

Graphical programming is nice for learning but i wouldn't call it more advanced. I think it will be a couple years before FTC can come close to the sensors offered by VEX.

The metal are more precision machinable parts than something you can beat into a different shape. This eliminates the possiblity of complex curves necessary for soo many designs. If it dont fit the kit, you can't buld it. The motor "axles" are very brittle and have very little in the way of support for things like arms. They're only about a 16th of an inch thick. There's no way to give it support on both sides. Aside from that and the high cost, it's an advance in software and sensor capability.

in your oppinion, how do you like the new kit?
The nxt is great for learning to program. The sensors interface will be difficult to match the functionality of the VEX kit. The metal kit parts look cool but they seem complicated & expensive for an erector set.
