Conservative politicians and pundits alike have for many years advanced, and sustained the regrettable myth of the welfare queen: a dark skinned parasite of a woman who lives by leeching off of the productive efforts of others. Such a woman is said to 'use the system' established by compassionate but foolish liberal politicians who don't understand her true lazy but ravenous nature and continue to provide for the welfare queen out of a misplaced sympathy. This two part video explores this mythology, and shows how it is in effect standing reality upon its head.

  • You sent this as a video response to "Cuz I'm a Single Mom on Welfare" but it didn't go through for me to video respond it. I want to say that I really appreciate both parts 1 & 2 of this video. They are dead on the mark and very intelligently put together. Thanks for sharing them with me. Awesome! :)

  • @doveliness22 You're welcome, and thank you very much for the compliment.

  • I'm receive ssi benefits for mental health reasons--it is a very modest monthly income--all money I get goes completely to rent and food & very little else--there is no saving no accumulation the money I get is instantly recirculated-the rich should be considered the parasites as they are the ones accumulating & hoarding. As a poor person I have seen how unfair & discriminatory & class conscious people are & how vulnerable to many social ills a person of low income or welfare is.

  • @catgumart The wealthy live off of the productive efforts of the toiling majority. So it is they who live off of us, not us off of them. We build all the roads, weave all the cloth, and grow all the food. Not the stockholders, investment bankers, CEO's or boards of directors.

  • Well of course there arent thousands of right wingers coming on here to leave comments.

  • here's a view from the other side...i agree that it welfare doesn't account for a huge percent of debt. But welfare (in my view) on a permanent basis (and there are definitely people who are on it for a long period) is immoral. Unless you are several mentally disabled, you can get a job and stay off of welfare. You have to be happy with less. not all of us can drive lamborghini's and live in penthouses. With that being said, corp's should not outsource so we can employ our own people.

  • Lol Welfare is mere fiction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @unclebanana

There are so many negative effects to the lifestyles that go along with being a toiling lower class member of society--so many that I can't list them all here--My views are progressive and quite left of center--I'm not up to being an activist, I'm lately listening to Raj Patel and other sources of leftist ideas-The Real News, Democracy Now,Chomsky. Here in Arizona people are very "right" and laws dealing with immigration and ethnicity are under attack right now--

  • Good video,comrade!
