I'm not sure what you know about economics, but the distributors of a product are not responsible for the demand - the public are. If Paolini's books sell, it's because the demand is already there. Unless he is commissioning readers to purchase his books, then it is rather the ignorance of the public the feeds this kind of book.
In any case, my point is and remains: if you don't like Paolini, don't read it. That doesn't change the fact that he has an enormous fan base - whether deserved or not.

Paolini said he strived for lyrical beauty somewhere between Tolkien at his best and (forgot author's name) translation of Beowulf. He is trying to imitate their styles, rather than find a style of his own. It is evident in his prose, his description, and his narrative. Even the style in which he writes his books isn't "original". Now, this is the point where you argue saying that "nothing is original", and I'm going to argue that, to a point, it's true.
