I am a bit nervous to ask, but I would like to know what you think of Richard Dawkins's book "The GOD Delusion" being placed in every hotel room that already contains the "Bible" and/or the "Book of Mormons" as an alternative.

  • i think you should just let the bibles sit there- do any of them look like they've been red to you? i think they are fat little coasters- see the multi rings on the covers?

  • Heh! :o)

  • yeah we know what an atheist is, someone who is afraid of death

  • An interesting thought, even it is utterly misplaced... I guess that is why we(atheist) face death each day without your delusion of everlasting life. I hope you can sense the irony in what you just said.

  • In the early days, the Gideons (formed in 1899) were traveling salesmen who placed a Bible at the reception desk in each hotel they frequented so patrons could borrow it, read it and be comforted by God's words. Why would an atheist need to be comforted by Darwin?

  • It is not a matter of comfort... It is a matter of options. I personally prefer non-fiction to fiction.

  • why would death be any different than the time before you where born?

  • I see that a lot of athiests are just as passionate about their beliefs as any religious fanatic (you've got me perusing the athiest chain mr katalyzt) - anyway- i think there will one day be a sect who is zealously driven to put an athiest's bible "BIBLE AS IN THE GREEK DERIVATIVE of BOOK!" in the nightstand...

  • a lack of God doesn't neccesarily mean a lack of some sort of afterlife- no one really knows yet... cool thing is we'll all know someday "WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE DIE DIE!" sorry katalyzt- don't stab me! not htis time! :)

  • LOL - this sounds like a "majority rules" statement, ofcourse the minority will be critisized. I think in his videos he is trying to say that we have to educate ourselves and question - not just fucking conform to what we were raised with... which the MAJORITY does. Its blasphemy to not use your rationality, your god given... what makes us different than any other animal on this planet... rationality & reason..

  • Hey, just wondering what you ment with the comment. Why would an atheist be more afraid of death than a believer, or less afraid? Doesn't make them any more or less human. I think it scares a person who believes in God that there is a possibility that there is no salvation after this life. That there is nothing saving us, there is nothing to look forward to in an afterlife. That all we have is each other. That is a scary concept...

  • Dear GothyGirl, pls read both of Gunter03301's comments to understand. He said {quote} "Atheism is a RELIGION" and "it is REALITY" in regards to that statement. Take care.
