  • @DJMKitsune Being consonant/dissonant depends on time when the music was created. What Baroque rejected as dissonant could be perfectly legal and considered consonant in the Romantique era.

You are though right this piece is more "classical" than most of Shostakovich's music, less sqewed in harmonic sequences yet very similar in its overall reception to his second Piano Concerto. I strongly recommend that concerto to you (the second movement is more meditative but really beautiful)

  • (25 September 1906 – 9 August 1975) was a Soviet Russian composer and one of the most celebrated composers of the 20th century.

  • This is quite an unusual piece for Shostakovich. He certainly has some happy pieces like the first movement of his third string quartet, but mostly it slips into madness after the first few measures. There are not that many pieces of Shostakovich being actually consonant.

  • This melody can be so appropriate to hear each morning in order to wake up and get up as if it's another sunny day outside, even if it is not exactly like that.

  • What are the pianists? Thank you

    very good played!!!
