"At once, she arrives as a compelling new talent. A real find"
Sunday Times
"Until yesterday I thought all 18 year olds in Newbury did was nick sweets from Spar and set fires to bins, but being introduced to Sarah McIntosh aka The Good Natured has proved otherwise"
NME
"demure, forlorn, wry, quietly despairing and sad, even when the beats are house-y and fast or skittering and drum'n'bass-y."
The Guardian
"'The Good Natureds YBIAM is a frosty, electro pop classic'
Q Magazine
Having salvaged her Grandma's 1980's Yamaha keyboard, Home Counties girl Sarah McIntosh- aka The Good Natured- grabbed everyone's attention. Her first self-produced EP "Warriors" (2009) was an outpouring of emotion: a magical electronic introduction to her music. A year later, having been triumphed by the likes of Radio 1's Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens, and heralded by The Sunday Times as the new Kate Bush, McIntosh sat her A-levels and split up with her boyfriend. With these changes she found a whole new inspiration to write.
Fans old and new will be excited to hear the first product of this- the single "Your Body Is A Machine"- when it is released on July 5th. Here, to powerful effect McIntosh sets her raw emotion to a hypnotic beat. She somehow manages to pack a powerful punch whilst her vocals remain hauntingly composed. In 'Your Body is a Machine' The Good Natured riles against broken promises, narcissism and mindless hedonism: "We are influenced by our self love and benevolence. Narcissism is overwhelming."
Lyrically and musically, McIntosh displays a maturity far beyond her teenage years. McIntosh is unafraid to explore the human psyche in relation to her own experience. Her direct approach and honesty, coupled with a home-grown British quirkiness, makes The Good Natured an exciting, unique and compelling discovery. She has a natural ability to transport leftfield musical influences and dark teenage emotions and dark electronic aesthetics referencing to artists such as ....Japan.... and David Sylvian.
Your Body Is A Machine was written by McIntosh and produced by Dan Foat and Nathan Boddy (Delphic, I Blame Coco). The single features remixes by Zebra & Snake, Body Language, Aspirins for My Children, Radioproof and Baby Monster. The Zebra & Snake remix is featured on the Kitsune Maison compilation released April 26th with already radio support from Huw Stephens, Grimshaw and Kissy Sell Out, BBC Radio 1.
