On 5th October 2010, Bangladesh beat New Zealand by nine runs under the Duckworth/Lewis method in the first one-day international match of the five-match Micromax ODI series at the Shere Bangla National Stadium. A brilliant all-round performance by Shakib Al Hasan steered Bangladesh to victory. In a rain-shortened match that was reduced to 37 overs in the New Zealand innings, Shakib's half-century backed up with a four-wicket haul helped the Tigers to only their second win over the Black Caps.
Score: Bangladesh 228 all out in 49.3 overs (Shakib Al Hasan 58; K. Mills 3-44) v New Zealand 200-8 in 37 overs (B. McCullum 61; Shakib Al Hasan 4-41)
