Probably going to get some gripe for this but I really don't care.

Anyhow I taught Jake how to rear, from the ground. Its not your typical way of just frustrating the horse into going up. I figured out how to ask Jake to collect his weight all into his hind quarters, and then asked him to move forward. Its a way of collecting and then using what I've collected when I want him to. I'm next to him so he isn't facing me and challenging me. Its just one of the tricks that strengthens the bond. Something for both of us to learn and in learning we grow closer.

  • lol i can understand why some ppl might gripe about teaching him to rear. i personally wouldnt do it with my own horse but thats because of her particularly. i know it can give them a rearing problem and he seems to kinda get that later but not in a really dangerous way. he seems to use rearing as a way of saying "nah i dont wanna" but so far i havent seen him do any major blow ups of rearing. so i think your fine xD

  • @PotterYouRotter7 He actually had a rearing problem before I taught this to him. And it was dangerous, he flipped on me a couple of times. After I taught him to rear correctly (Through balance on the hind quarters), not just throwing himself up in the air he stopped flipping on me. So it helped a dangerous situation.

  • Excellent work, Caiti!

And yes, Jake will love you and be very close, understanding and trusting, when you play with him and teach him something he enjoys as rearing.

But there are also some very nice parts in your opening: Very safe seat, wonderful position and balance on a horse rearing at 0:08 and sidecantering at 0:11 - best textbook riding! And fantastic in not falling from your horse after 0:18!

You certainly know how to behave on a horse - perfect performance!

  • @heinzstoffregen Thank you, I'm glad people can see it that way. At 0:18 I was in the middle of a test, if I had let go of the gate I would have lost points. I held on.

  • AMAZING! Well done me matey!

  • @miazhorsecrazy Thank you!

  • I so envy you! and the super FLY made me LOL

  • @CrazyForLucky *** i saw it pop up in my feed, i know it wasnt new but its still good to see him :) in case you were curious haha

  • awww its good to see jake again and i swear thats more like one of those spanish movements because hes balancing and not gaining height but rather "sitting"

  • Ahh, looks great!!! :D okay, i lost it at the part with the fly! That was soooo funny!! :) anyways, great job!! :)

  • @Horsesdontlie oh wow o.o ya i guess you could add that as another positive of teaching him to rear. rear the right way so even if he does have a temper tantrum, he wont flip on you. ive seen that happen and that is so scary.

  • Nice job!

    And gorgeous horse!
