On 23 January, Cyclo Cross Youth style was contested on the wooded slopes of Furze Hill, in Essex. The event saw a flying start to the first corner from the Youth riders, but it was not long before Youth rider Sean Dunlea (PCA Ciclos Uno) set off on a soaring pace through the woods which none could match. Sean kept the pressure on right from the start and his clean lead earned him first place. Imogen Buick riding for Thetford MTB (First Place Youth Girl) was second behind Sean for half the race and looked like taking second place overall until Matthew Madgwick of Lee Valley Youth CC piped her to take second place. Imogen's tenacious cycling earned her third place overall and just 46 seconds behind Matthew. The course was tuff to negotiate being on the slopes of a hill and quite boggy from the previous wet weather. Colchester Rovers promoted this event which was well organised by the event secretary Ken Baker.
