  • Foreman was brought up carefully thru the heavyweight ranks but I think he would have given Ali and Frazier all they could handle in 1971 ( or earlier in Frazier's case, as Ali was still in exile). Can you imagine an ill prepared Ali taking on Foreman as opposed to Norton in March of 1973? That would have been a pure massacre.

  • I've watched a lot of Foreman fights, yet it still amazes me how strong he looks. Even partially blocked or glancing blows are doing damage..

I think he didn't ko people with single shots as his punches were *relatively* slow, fighters can take huge shots if they see them coming and are ready, it's just that Foreman's shots were just too damn powerful, and he didn't have one powerful shot, everything he threw seemed to be punishing...

  • @drumsport Thank 4 the info. I bet those punks would not have did that to him when he was younger.

  • Teddy is my great uncle.... no lie... I am gonna try and get some old videos of him boxing and put em up...

  • Fight was close at first, then you can see when George knew Ted couldn't hurt him, it was a matter of time until George got his range. The KO punch didn't seem that hard, though ANY punch from George then was hard. And in slow motion you can see that George hit him flush.

  • Damn old Jeorge looks there HUGE!

  • Ted Gullick was a bad dude. I saw him fight several times and he hit hard. The rumor was that when he was young and undefeated, Big George didn't want any part of him. It was another rumor that Ted had a wealthy girlfriend and didn't train like he should. He fell onto tough times and was reportedly living under a bridge in the Cleveland area. I understand he died when some punks set him on fire. A sad end to a man that could have been champ. RIP TG.
