The problem with listening to something this beautiful is that it makes the rest of life seem so trivial and burdensome in its light. So I'm left with the hopeless struggle of trying to carve out a life that can reflect to some extent the beauty of a mind I can never hope to understand.

My favorite interpretation of this piece. I love Zimerman's playing so much, and I feel the ballades are among the finest pieces in the piano repertoire :)

stp, what to say? you have done just that - reflected as you describe. nobody understands the deepest Chopin, the best any of us can do is try to integrate his profound musical understandings into our little lives which are then richer albiet still far from the reality of Chopin's incredible beautiful dreams.
