FEED The NEED Event at Wompatuck State Park

On April 12, the Feed The Need 5K Run/Walk was held at Wompatuck State Park in Hingham. Participants donated 25 food and basic necessity items as their entry fee. The event attracted a large crowd, including many families who enjoyed all sorts of races for both young and old. A total of 3,761 food and essential items were collected, with all donations given to local food pantries, which is helping to replenish their shelves during a time of year when their shelves are generally less full. According to Vinny Harte, executive director of Wellspring in Hull, the demand for items has increased this year.
