Johnny's delicious interpretation of "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm", music and lyrics by Irving Berlin (1937). The 'big band' arrangement, enhances the boldness of emotion one can feel at this time of year. I love the cadence of Johnny's voice throughout the song - soft, by the fireside emotion, and rich and expansive phrasing and notes at the 'high points' of the song. You can find the song on both of Johnny's holiday CDs: "Johnny Mathis:The Christmas Album" (2002) and "Johnny Mathis Gold: 50th Anniversary Christmas Celebration" (2006). Enjoy, enjoy! And here's to the wish that we remember- the year round- that nurturing the relationships we have and inviting new connections are among our richest gifts . Best of holidays to you - whichever and whenever you celebrate!

  • @lenoremewton Well Leonore, he IS delicious. In every sense and in every age.

    Berit.

  • @beweau you're very welcome- re: the photos- I did say 'delicious' ! I meant the music- but of course..... he is in every way. Thanks for comments about writing- appreciate it. Johnny was maginficent on Oprah and a wonderful pairing i thought- voices change - but not the depth and richness- he is terrific- If you - Josh is a wonderful singer- fabulous voice- and yet- there is not much diversity in how he uses his voice- Johnny, however, can sing an amazing array of genres-with ease.

  • Thank you Leonore!! As you, I also like his a-bit-jazzy-melodies. In addition to all the others. A lovely rendition. I love what you're writing, it's pure "school" for me.

The photoes: Wondergful. That rare photo by him with a beard, but he is "eatable" in everyone of them. I can see that one of them are from the Oprah-show', which I think that I've seen a hundred times. Two generations great singers, the oldest one with the "low points" notes. A bit sad, but he's GREAT.
