With much help from Alan Freeman on his daily afternoon show, Focus were the first band from the continent to take off in the UK after its accession to the EEC - multiple ironies in that context attach to their more Tullish, flute-heavy moments with their aspirational, half-understood Englishness, though the rock bite of this and "Hocus Pocus" is ultimately more satisfying.
