With the Christmas season looming, and having totally procrastinated as far as Christmas presents are concerned, I must once again fall back on art to fill the gap. Time to fire up the kiln.
When I was a senior in high school (2009), the kiln in the art room was declared broken and replaced. Turns out, the kiln was fine, the breaker just worn out. My dad and I bought the kiln at surplus and made a senior project out of it. It's a Skutt of some variety, with the computer controller. Very nice. :D
This is just a walk through of me firing a load of glass, and the results. My technique could certainly use some refining.
The wire I use for hangers is steel electric fence wire (I think), purchased surplus a few years back. It gets a bit of patina on it but that crumbles off and leaves a solid hook behind.
Any/all questions/comments welcome. I'm still pretty new to this, so if you know more about this than I do, please let me know all the various things I'm doing wrong. :-)
Very interesting, thanks, Claire
