Part two of a two-part tutorial. This tutorial will show you the basics for building the head of a furry avatar in Second Life, and some strategies and methods that more people need to use. I had background music but due to Youtube's new (fail) policies I had to remove it.

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUGst-X3h3U

UPDATE: Note that I will regrettably no longer be continuing my avatar tutorials. I was hacked several months ago, in February of 2009, by the group known as Dwi'Tek and, due to other complications as well, forced to abandon Second Life altogether.

I hope what I have made has helped you all so that many avatar designers may take my place.

  • How can I get a Pose stand?

  • @DeidaraIsHot154 This was made 2.5 years ago, I can't really help find anything anymore. :\

  • I'm making one but I don't know how to make hair ,rave, and hair covering it's eyes? Help

  • @cford9974 First off, don't use flexiprims til you're comfortable. The best shape to use is a torus, with full tapers, full hole size, and path cut so you get what look like claw ends.

Hair is 50% building and 50% textures. You'll usually want an opaque hair texture to use for the base (torii can be useful here to make the back of the hair, especially if it's tied together). Textures with alpha on the ends can be used for the hair ends, like the bangs.

  • dangit i was wanting to see how to make the eyes because i'm needing help on sl my name is brian dianthus if can im me on there

  • Wow your really good doing this stuff :D

Did you take lessons or something D:

  • @jechtsmentor Yep. It's not efficient coding. You'd need something that can play Call of Duty Black Ops on PC at max settings with 90 fps, no dips ever, to get stability in SL. :s

It honestly is kinda waste of time if you're not entrepreneurial. If you're just looking for fun there's a lot more free online games out there, and chat programs and websites like Steam to get in touch with people.

  • @ZombieZephyr ah it's okay -u- the game lagged so much I just gave up .-.

  • @ZombieZephyr Thank you for answering my questions. =)

  • @bluewulv That's a skin. That's another process all together and had no relation to this avatar.

Skins you make in photoshop according to a template design. Then you build them by making new skins from your inventory drop-down lists just like you do clothing.

  • I've also been meaning to ask. How did you get the body to have that fur color before making the shapes?
