I took a ride out along the 4 mile stretch of the Cobbs Creek Recreation Path to capture some of the sights. It's a lovely ride that gets far too little exposure. I only saw one other cyclist during two hours of riding back and forth. Highlights along the way are Taste O' Home (the Caribbean restaurant at 61st and Baltimore) and Mount Moriah Cemetery.(See this site for more about that: http://www.mountmoriahcemetery.org/) Along the way there are some great views of Cobbs Creek which was teeming with fish and frogs. Check out www.malcolmxpark.org for more about West Philadelphia. For more on bicycling in philly, check out Philadelphia Bicycle News: http://bcgp.blogspot.com/

  • dats ma hood I use alwayz go down snake hill and 69 street

  • Where is snake hill? Is that the path that goes down under the railroad bridge by the creek?

  • yeah and there is a center down dere

  • Okay, I know where you're talking about. Cobbs Creek and about Catharine, and it goes down to the nature center. Did you see they're putting a trail down by the creek all the way from Baltimore Ave. to (I think) Market? I saw a guy pouring gravel out there the other day.

  • If you have specific information about dangers along the path, please post it. I've ridden my bike on the path many times by myself or with others, and I've never felt any danger or seen anything I felt was shady in the least. On the other hand, it would be much more fun to explore the path and the cemetery with a friend or two...

  • Lovely video--I just found out about this trail and am looking forward to checking it out...

  • The tressell at 3:45 is the Fernwood/Media Local. It runs Center City all the way to Elwyn.

  • At 4:40, you could make a right and go through Yeadon and it picks up a section of Cobbs Creek Parkway. Make left and swing down past the church and down past Chester Ave into Swest. Cross over the little bridge, make a right and then go back up the opposite side of road from 5:08.

  • I swam in that pool a few times as a kid. Used to go there at night, hop the fence and swim....

  • Great vid. My grandparents live right on 61st and Baltimore to this day. We often went across the street into the Baltimore Rec area and got into a few fights being Niave Mount Airy-ers visiting. Beautiful area but a little dangerous.

  • I played my first organized football game at the field down from the skating rink back in 1977. WOW......I AM OLD!!!!!
