Sorry for late answer to very old posts but here we go. The triggers are just there for opening gates or making it easier to strip silence when editing. We don't use the for triggering samples. Same goes for the snare but there we also use the trigg mic acoustically to add crack to the snare sound.
@metaldrummer3211 you dont need to be a death metal drummer to use triggers. its more of a tool than a requirement. anybody who wants that type of sound can use them. plus microphones arent perfect (neither are triggers) but sometimes mics wont pick up every note played.
I suppose, but it just doesn't seem necessary to use them for Peter's style. I would expect tom triggers from bands that have a lot more blast beats like Vader, Morbid Angel, Behemoth, and Lost Soul. I think that triggers don't allow for groove that is more common with thrash metal. I'd double up the mics for the drums; and trigger the kicks with additional mics. However, Darkane isn't a standard thrash metal band and Demonic Art is still a really good album.
whats so bad about the triggers, and before you even say they are cheating are sound like crap, its becoming more popular to use both mics and triggers and mixing both sounds to get the "perfect sound". you get the attack of the triggers and the tone of the acoustics and let me tell you it works really really really well

Watching again.... Peter, the snare you´re using is the old 10"?

@Deltidsharmonisk you always have at least a rough guitar track or guitars from pre-pro when you start recording drums
that's actually pretty normal
so you have a click track and pre-pro guitars as a guidance for the drummer
