There's also the power of hate and easy answers where you have people like Rand Paul, Julian Penn who will scream freedom, but the second a big business does something bad (BP, Wal-Mart) they run to their aid and tell us they should have no rules.
Good point on patriotism. About 10 years ago, they were screaming at people like the Dixie Chicks for "hating America" because they disagreed government then hail the Tea Party as wonderful patriots for doing the same thing. It boggles the mind.
