You can go to jail for withholding collateral, you have to remember that if you are making payments you do not own whatever it is and rather the bank owns it. And could end up with auto theft or larceny charge.

Is the fee a percentage of the vehicle worth/debt? Or is it a flat rate per repo?

RR I love your stuff Unlike Operation Repo... I am currently a tow truck driver in texas. but the company I work for does not do repos. If someone would want to venture off on there own where would be the first place to get started other then getting the truck and lift. I have my CT license is there any other licensing you need?

Well they go to auctions if they are not redeemed. Cal auctions, local auctions etc...
