@boknstet Making sure that everything fits well and lines up then smear a bit more glue on the spine and attach the card stock to the spine at the creases you have made. Let this dry well. Then attach the card stock to the book covers and you now have your own book. Hope this helps you. Leslie
@boknstet Have another piece of 12 x 12 card stock trimmed down to 8-1/2 inches on one end only. Line up one of the 12 x 8-1/2 edges with the front of your signatures and hold it tight so it doesn't shift on you then smooth the card stock along the spine. Make sure you finger crease the spine area on both sides then get the back of the card stock section even with the back of you signatures. When you have that done....
@boknstet I'll have to put this in several little bits for you. When you have your "Signatures" and get ready to glue them together you will stack them and get them held tight with a couple clamps - leaving the spine free about 1/4 inch then with some good glue slather it on the spine...let it dry and give it another coat. Do this a couple times. When the glue is totally dry and the signatures are held together well then the next part is....
@gardenwife Thank you for your comment. As far as creating your own book pages. It is fairly straight forward - depending on the size you want. You can take copy paper or any kind of paper 8-1/2x11 and fold each piece in half. Stack five pieces of the paper together and either hand stitch down the folded area or sew it by machine. When you have the "Signatures" you want then glue them together with a good glue on the spine.
Seeing how you built the cover, including the spine, was very helpful! Have you ever actually bound a book using this method, or do you just use spiral-bound notebooks? I'd love to see how to really bind a homemade book.
@gardenwife Hope my explanation does help you. When I'm home and have more time I'll have to do a video of it. That is if you don't beat me to it :-)
