  • My basic contention is that to make a straight ski go around a corner it needs to sideslip. At no speed or slow speed, which is the concern of recreational skiers, lay your ski flat on the slope, it pivots.

Now, beyond this basic fact, all racing technics are right, as we all know that at higher speed the ski still sideslips off its strong edging. Carving is the exception to sideslipping which applies when the curve is precisely 12m or 17m.

  • why are you bashing caving... it is using shaped skis to their full potential... and more maneuverable than skidding at high speeds... trust me i know... i can ski through a crowd at moderatley fast speeds safely and accutatley carving and sliding doesnt have that much effect on a turn when "haulin the mail" ... sure it slows you down fast but it will only really turn you at the middle of the turn when you dig your edges in

  • Hypnotic video

  • Well done your video! I like the way you made it

  • no one uses straights anymore and most recreational skiers are carvers exept for vacationers... and straight skis can carve also... just takes a hell of alot of foreward pressure on the boots... my point is carving is just as good as sideslipping and both have their advantages

  • A mettre entre toutes les carres !
